Great product

General Electric - Great product
I just wanted to share a great story. We purchased the home we are currently living in, in 1991. We have a cellar, and there was a light with a 150 watt GE lightbulb in it when we purchased the home. I have never replaced the light bulb up until a couple of days ago when I left the light on for 2 days. The old bulb finally burned out.Shocked My wife thought it was hilarious that this light bulb lasted 30 years, possibly longer, and said I should share the story with you. I bet the new lightbulbs don't last as long!! Sincerely yours, William LaPlante (970) 835-****

So disappointed!

I have dishwasher modelGDF520PGJOWW. I've had to replace the racks twice (total of $180) in less than 3 years. (No kids in the house to wreck them, either) They truly are junk and I feel the second set should have been free!

Design Flaw in GE Profile Dual Fuel Slide-In Range

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We bought a GE Profile 30" Smart Dual Fuel Slide-In Front-Control Range, (Model #: P2S930SELSS), experienced a defect in the oven that turned the oven and timer off when we opened the door and checked the cooking food. We went through a battery of repair attempts, and the defect was never corrected. We wound up replacing the oven with the same model, and the 2nd oven exhibits the same defect. GE does not want to recognize the defect in their product, all we want is our investment back in both ovens, because they have an inherent design flaw!

I HATE your washing machine

Updated by user Jan 13, 2021

The new technology stinks. Give me the old machines any day and I'll tell you how much better they are.

My old machine lasted over 20 years and I wish I'd kept it and fixed it rather than give it away to a repair shop. My guess is the people developing these awful machines never have washed clothes or are so young they haven't a clue how the old machines were so much better. I could lift the lid when I wanted instead of it being locked half the time. My machine goes off balance often and it's locked so I can't fix the distribution of the clothes.

The machine will not right itself.

I would never recommend a new washer to anyone. Keep the old one and fix it.

Original review Dec 13, 2020
I'm 79 years old so I've had plenty of washing machines in my lifetime. This one I have is the absolute worst of all. I've had both Sears and GE. My model # GTW335ASN1WW, Serial #GR179877G. The machine was purchased 6/2020. This GE replaced my old GE machine. I would have kept my old machine and repaired it if I had known how lousy the new one would be. I can't wash 4 sheets at one time because it gets off balance and when the machine finally rights itself they are so tangled I have trouble untangling them. I've never had this trouble before.

Failure to honor warranty

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased a GE microwave hood in August of 2020. Upon installation, the technician and I noted that the filler panels were discolored in the area where protective plastic covered the corners. I contacted GE who sent a technician. I never received a reply. I again contacted GE and was informed that the discoloration of the new microwave hood was "cosmetic damage". I disputed that I was not entitled to receive a product which was not damaged. Since then I have gotten the run around with no solution forthcoming.

Total lack of followup despite their representation that a customer service representative "will be in contact with you shortly."

They did not respond to any demand for information launched by PissedConsumer nor did I expect them to do so. I have always regarded GE as a top of the line company, and they still probably are but for me, there is no learning accomplished by the second kick in the head by a mule. My wife and I are purchasing a new range from another company and any future appliance purchases will no doubt follow suit.

Oven peeling after a few weeks

General Electric - Oven peeling after a few weeks
Clare Francavilla Clare Francavilla I'm so mad right now. We got a brand new GE oven the end of February. Since I am a federal employee in Emergency Management I have been deployed for the past 6 weeks. I've probably used the oven 6 times since it's been installed. 3 times I've cooked something that potentially is going to drip int he bottom. My whole life when I do this I put an aluminum liner at the bottom of the oven. The entire bottom of this oven is peeling. BRAND NEW oven!! Used 6 TIMES!! Someone came out to look at it. First they said that someone damaged it when they cleaned it. Now besides the peeling you can tell this is an oven that is new and has hardbly been used. Sparkling clean. We told him, we put an aluminum liner in the bottom if we are cooking something that can drip. OH, it is the aluminum that made this happen. The manual (the guiding light to all things that keeps anyone being responsible for anything...if it says it in the manual "there's nothing we can do about it"...or that will do about it.) So the warranty is voided. I've used it once since all of this and continues to peel and peel some more. What kind of POS materials are used to make a brand new applicance that this is even possible...and there's nothing anyone will do about it!!?? I was told today by a supervisor that things are not made the same as they used to be. So what are you saying...your company makes cheap crap based on the premis that things are not made like they used to be. SHAME on these companies that charge MORE than ever and the quality is LESS than ever. And all they can say to you is , it says in the manual. They even know the page number it says it on. I'm guessing I'm not the first person with this issue...obviously. They had the script down. Shameful. AHHHHH...I'm so pissed. But they'll give a small discount if you want to buy a new one. WHY ON EARTH would I want a new one. For shame. #geappliances #goodthings

Broken dryer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Our dryer stoped working a little over a month ago in early June. A tecnicion came out, fooled around with it for about an hour than decided we needed a part. He told me it would take a few days,he would return the following week. Here it is 5 weeks later and we are still waiting. When I call or email the company they what to put me in touch with a technicion but I have to pay $5. What kind of crap is that? I just get run around ,run around with no answers.

LOWES MITIARY DISCOUNT

I JUST GOT A GE REFRIGERATOR AT MY LOWE'S STORE IN LAVALE MARYLAND. I GET A 10% DISCOUNT FOR BEING A MILITARY VETERAN AFTER GETTING IT HOME I LOOKED AT MY BILL AND I DID NOT GET THIS DISCOUNT SO THE NEXT DAY I WENT BACK TO LOWE'S TO THE SERVICE DESK AND ASK ABOUT IT, TO MY SURPRISE I WAS TOLD THAT LOWE'S COULD NOT ANY LONGER GIVE ME THE DISCOUNT ON ANYTHING FROM GE BECAUSE GE WOULD NO LONGER ALLOW THEM TO. I BOUGHT MY LAST GE PRODUCE AND I WILL TELL EVERY ONE I KNOW AT VFW, THE AMERICAN LEGION, VIETNAM VET OF AMERICA, FACEBOOK, AND ANY ONE ELSE I CAN ABOUT YOUR POLICY. THE LOWE'S POLICY ABOUT VET'S COST YOU NOTHING THEY EAT THE AMOUNT SO WHY WOULD IT MATTER TO YOU, LOWE'S IS PROUD OF PEOPLE WHO SERVED IN THE MILITARY.

Poor warranty service due to poor parts dept

Monday May 18th contacted 800 626-**** to obtain local service for a brand new washer/dryer unit purchased on May 4th. Model #GUD27ESSM; Serial# DR002261C. Work number06145****. Received a call late afternoon from a GE contract local repair service namely Rush Repair to discuss problem. On Tuesday May 19th they sent a part order to GE in order to continue and send repairman over with a new part. Was told would take about 48 hours to receive order. No one called until today the 22nd late afternoon when I called Rush to find out of untimely delay. They returned call after contact of your parts department. They were informed order was never acted on and could not possibly ship until at least Tuesday the 26th. At best 10 or more days to fix my brand new and troubled stackables. Called a gent at 1-80*-626-**** and he took info for computer and told me to inform you that case # 38-0*-**-* is it. My name is Scott Sawyer, phone is 928-514-**** and item purchased from Attwoods of Kingman Arizona Problem revolves sudden shut downs during wash cycle and a defective lid lock diode light.

Very dissatisfied with dishwasher.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We replaced a 20 year old Kitchen-aide dishwasher when we remodeled so as to have matching appliances. The old Kitchen-aide performed vastly better than our new GE dishwasher that quite simply, leaves many dishes dirty, regardless of the recommended soaps weve used. I wish we still had the Kitchen-side and have vigorously dismissed GE to friends who ask for recommendations.
